Cassidy Fae Pendley.......Forever to Thee

Tomorrow marks the one-year anniversary of Cassidy Fae Pendley's death. She, along with six others, were killed in the Ocean Isle Fire on October 28, 2007. Cassidy dated Reid for a while and became very close with our family. She graduated from Fort Dorchester High School and started USC last fall. She pledged Tri Delta and was initiated after her death. Cassidy was always laughing and smiling. She looked for the positive in everything every day. She was a smart, beautiful, and fun person, and we miss her deeply. Andy and I felt such a strong connection with her, we decided to name our first child-boy or girl-after her.

So, Cassidy, here's your namesake...

Cassidy Reed Yingling

Well, we found out yesterday afternoon that this active baby in my belly is a boy! The doctor asked me if I had a feeling before she told us; I told her I thought it was a boy because it was doing somersaults in my belly. I've been feeling him kick or punch for a while now, but the hubs hasn't been able to catch it. Recently, though, I started feeling him kicking and punching hard! Then, when we looked at the ultrasound yesterday I saw what I was feeling. As soon as the doctor put pressure on my belly, the baby put his hands up in front of his face and pushed against the pressure. Then, he balled his fists up and began punching. It was pretty funny...only because I'd been feeling it for a while and could finally see it.

He is healthy and big. He's 13 cm long and weighs 1 pound and 1 ounce so far. His head is big, too, just like his daddy's. He posed for some good pictures, too, which we were excited about. I'll keep y'all posted as new things happen.
